NYC Velo is located in the East Village (2nd Avenue between 3rd and 4th Streets). Owner Andrew Crooks, with the help of his family and friends, and Freecell Architecture, restored the space’s architectural elements and converted it into the most unique bike shop in Manhattan. A shop for cyclists, by cyclists. We believe a bike shop should be more than just a store – it should be a place for cyclists. NYC Velo is proud to have an area in the shop dedicated to rider relaxation, where cyclists can hang out, read a magazine, and enjoy espresso gratis from our Giro d’Italia-edition Giotto machine from Rocket Espresso.
Our knowledgeable staff will help you select and size the right bicycle for you, whether you race, commute or just bike for fun and exercise. We will ensure that your bike is fitted properly so that you have the best ride possible. You can choose from a wide variety of styles and bikes from Independent Fabrication, Surly, Pegoretti, Scott, Felt, Kona, Bianchi, Parlee, Geekhouse, and others. We sell parts and accessories that really work, and we know they work because we use them. In addition to sales, we offer comprehensive bike repair services. Our trained mechanics can quickly and accurately fix virtually any bicycle ailment as well as professionally install components.

Our priority is to deliver superior customer service by catering to each customer’s needs, offering helpful service and advice, and treating each customer as a valued member of the NYC Velo community. To that end, NYC Velo offers professional bike fitting services, performed free of charge for customers purchasing bicycles from us and for reasonable rates for customers with non-NYC Velo bicycles.  Our fit staff has been trained and certified by the Serotta International Cycling Institute (SICI) in Saratoga Springs, NY.

At NYC Velo, we believe that cycling is about more than machinery, it’s about being involved in the community through outreach and advocacy. NYC Velo is active in local cycling events and organizations, and works with alternative transportation nonprofit groups like Transportation Alternatives, IMBA, and Bikes Belong.

Our staff of experienced cyclists can help you get involved in the cycling community as well as recommend local rides. The NYC Velo News page highlights many of the events that we have supported in the recent past. Additionally, NYC Velo offers a wide variety of bicycle rentals for either daily use or for competitive events (contact the shop for details on current availability) starting at $30 per day.

NYC Velo also supports various local and regional race teams, both on and off road. We proudly sponsor the BH/Comedy Central, and the Waffle Racing teams.

Additionally, NYC Velo sponsors a team of elite mountain and cyclocross racers under the shop’s banner. The NYC Velo Racing team consists of Troy Ostrander, Todd Crooks, Ian Harris, Evan Murphy, Brett Champlain, Tom Stephenson, Chris McNally, and owner Andrew Crooks.
