The NYC Velo shop ride this week IS ….
The second segment of NYC Velo’s 2014 Fall Adventure Series is the Brett’s Revenge ride. Brett’s Revenge is a 70-mile loop in the foothills of Upstate New York’s Catskill Mountains. The course is roughly 40 miles of rolling paved roads and 25 miles of offroad single- and double-track. Click here for a GPS-enabled course map. Be prepared to hike a bit with your bike – think PA’s Iron Cross.
The (unsupported) ride meets at Overlook Bikes in Woodstock, NY at 9am on Saturday November 15. The expected ride time is 6-7 hours.
We highly recommend a cyclocross bike with knobby tires of at least 32mm in width, as well as offroad shoes and MTB-style pedals as the course features some (short) hike-a-bike sections. Riders who show up for the event with a road bike and road-style pedals will be on their own, though we do have cyclocross bikes available to rent (contact us prior to the event for details).
Completion of Brett’s Revenge is required, along with successful completion of the other 3 segments (the Taconic 150, Ian’s Endless Summer, & The Polar Express), to take possession of the Ultimate Swag – the custom Fall Adventure Series Mission Workshop Orion jacket. These jackets are exclusive to the few who complete the Series – there will be no extras, none made available for sale. You can’t buy it, you have to earn it!
