In celebration of our limited edition run of Geekhouse Rockcities (made
just for you), we sent cameras and followed the frame & forks through
production. We adopted a Terry Richardson-esque (disposable camera)
style…
We took some artistic license with the frame & fork color combos so you
could think about other things like what wheels, bars and saddle you want to round out the package.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with our Geekhouse friends in Boston,
they are a fully-loaded do-it-all-in-house crew.
As founder Marty Walsh says, “we produce a range of bicycle frames for all
types of riding. We work hard to source as much as possible from within
the United States and we hold green business practices in high esteem. By
utilizing a small staff of builders, we take the time to personally cater
to your ideas and we love watching each and every build take on the
personality and individuality of our customers.”
Come by and check out these urban assault vehicles in person. Qty’s are limited, call the shop for sizing.

With the holiday season in full swing and people running around trying to find presents that will make loved ones smile, we can’t help but get in on the fun.
We had a bit of a store front exchange program with our friends at Chrome. We sent over a sweet NYC Velo Rock City Geekhouse for their store front, and in return they set us up with a pretty rad messenger wreath. What better way to spread some holiday cheer?

In case you’re looking for present for your cycling-minded friends, dont forget to check out our holiday gift list!
Happy Holidays!

‘Tis the season… To spend money on other people!
Chances are that if you’re reading this blog, you have friends who like to ride human-powered 2-wheeled machines. It just so happens that we specialized in “peddling” cycling-related wares to the general public (see what we did there?)
If you’re a bit stumped on what to get the cyclist who has everything, then check out our holiday shopping list, which features gifts at myriad price ranges.

Some might accuse us of playing favorites, and we would have to agree. Can you blame us?
It’s not our fault that the folks at Geekhouse keep pumping out these slick, gorgeous rigs, is it? We just want to share the love with you, our readers.
This week’s specimen is aptly titled “Mellow Yellow,” and it’s the prettiest commuter we’ve seen in a while. It also wins the award for the most gorgeous integrated stem/handlebar we’ve seen on a commuter.
We’re big fans of bikes that seamlessly blend function and aesthetics in a unique way. Geekhouse gets a gold star for this one.

In conjunction with our awesome shop ride, we are marking Sunday, August 8th as a day of celebration for both the Bespoke exhibit (coming to an end August 15th) as well as North American handbuilt bikes.
If you’re the proud owner of a North American handmade bicycle, stop by the shop between 8AM and 6 PM and we’ll put your bike up for all to ogle and drool at. Pro NYC Velo photog Justin King will snap some pictures of your bike, and one lucky handbuilt will roll away with the “Bike of the Week” distinction and all the prestige that comes with it. Participating bikes will also be given a free ticket to Sacha White’s Bespoke exhibit at the Museum of Design. The exhibit is truly stunning and a very important event in the NYC bike community. Free or not, the NYC Velo crew suggests that it not be missed.
We will also be serving up delicious brews from Think Coffee as well as baked goods from Blue Sky Bakery throughout the day- a killer pair.

So hot (and irresistible), that it was stolen during the Bicycle Film Festival.
We wish we were joking and if we find the thief, he’ll know we don’t.

Bike of the Week, geekhouseNYC Velo is excited to announce a unique collaboration with the newest bike brand in the shop, Geekhouse. These Boston based frame builders have been making serious waves in the bike world recently with their brightly colored singlespeed, fixie, and cross team bikes and kits. The Geekhouse crew has had a strong presence at NAHBS and has developed a reputation within the handbuilt frame building community for producing top quality products. Head Geek Marty Walsh honed his fabricating skills at Seven Cycles and under master framebuilder Mike Flanigan of ANT and his work shows it.
NYC Velo will be releasing some very limited frame and fork sets in the coming weeks in stock sizes with unique colorways. The first release, Series 1, will be in 2 sizes, 53 and 56cm, and will incorporate signature Geekhouse elements like custom machined adjustable dropouts, new in-house segmented Yo Marty forks, and the brand’s curved seat tube. The second release, Series 2, will be made in 2 smaller sizes, 47 and 50cm, and will don a different, series-specific paint job. The Series 2 framesets will include the same unique details as the Series 1 framesets, though will forgo the curved seat tube.
Each series will be limited to a run of 5 framesets. NYC Velo is currently taking pre-orders for both Series 1 and Series 2 framesets, price is set at $1150 each.
custom, geekhouseNYC is getting to know geekhouse; built by Marty Walsh in Boston, the brand is kicking butt in the cyclocross circuit (they are hard to miss given their Pee-Wee Herman-esque color schemes), and their singlespeeds have always stood out with their unique seatpost design.
Geekhouse will be coming to NYC Velo in the very near future, but in the meantime check out this one that our friend Jacob brought by the other day.
