NYC Velo Service 2022
Regular service extends the life of your bicycle’s parts and helps maintain optimum performance throughout that lifespan, keeping your parts working better for longer. Larger service packages, either the Deluxe or ProTune, gives us the opportunity to replace worn out components, while the smaller service, either the Standard or ala carte work, will keep those new parts working well as they move through their lifespan.
Standard tune up - $95
The Standard tune up is one of the most common service packages for bikes that are in functional condition but need adjustments to get things smooth, quiet, and safe. It includes:
- Adjustment of front and rear derailleurs, Front and rear brake adjustments
- Minor wheel truing
- Minor bearing adjustments
- Lubrication of moving parts
- Quick wipe down of the frame and fork.
The standard tune up does not include the installation of new parts. Note that certain bicycles (those with hydraulic disc brakes, internal cable routing, electronic shifting, tubular tires, dynamo lights, etc) may incur additional charges.
Deluxe tune up - $195
The Deluxe tune up is intended for bikes which need more cleaning than the standard tune would provide, while also providing the opportunity to replace worn out drivetrain components such as the chain, cassette, chainrings, and derailleur pulleys. Included in the deluxe tune are:
- full drivetrain clean (removal and cleaning of the chain, cassette, chainrings, derailleur, and derailleur pulleys)
- Two wheel trues
- Bearing adjustments to the hubs, headset, and (if applicable) bottom bracket
- Frame, fork, and wheels scrub
- All adjustments included in a standard tune.
- Labor to replace any drivetrain components and bar tape or grips (not including parts).
If cables, housing, bearings, or other components need to be replaced, there may be additional labor, some of which may be discounted with the purchase of the deluxe tune package. Note that certain bicycles (those with hydraulic disc brakes, internal cable routing, electronic shifting, tubular tires, dynamo lights, etc) may incur additional charges.
Pro tune up - $350-$395
The Pro tune up is our most comprehensive service package and includes the labor to completely disassemble the bike down to the frame and fork, clean everything, and rebuild the bike from the frame up. It includes all of the services of the Deluxe tune plus the labor costs for replacement of bottom bracket, headset, and hub bearings.
Note that certain bicycles (those with hydraulic disc brakes, internal cable routing, electronic shifting, tubular tires, dynamo lights, etc) may incur additional charges.
If your bicycle doesn’t need a comprehensive tune up, we can also address individual issues with particular parts of the bike at a la carte rates. Some service procedures are billed at our hourly rate, typically restoration projects or extracting corroded seat posts or stems from a rusty frame, at $95 per hour.
